Hello Friends and Family,

Mike and I safely made our exit from Africa last week when we flew from Johannesburg to Harare to Nairobi and then France. We had a day or two lay-over at each point which was a great opportunity to quickly revisit with friends we had made along our 8 month adventure. We even got the chance to visit with our Kenyan hosts/family once more on a days outing to East Africa's only indoor skating rink.

Not having gone skating for a number of years myself, we were all quite a sight to see with our collective wobbling ankles and flailing arms. It was a valliant effort however the first of our ranks, (Mr. Okidi) managed to last only 8 minutes before he sought refuge well grounded on a wooden bench. I blame dull skates two sizes too large for my own inadequacies on the ice. Mrs. Okidi fared well with a little instruction and an ice-friendly metal walker. Mike of course caught the whole thing on video and for a large fee I may allow you to view it one day!

We are in Paris at the moment and wear the blisters on our feet as
trophies from all of the hiking we've done around town and through the
multitudes of museums that we've visited! We've also discovered that
red wine is cheaper than water here so we've made it standard practice
to include it and cheese in nearly every meal that we've had! In other
words,.. we are really enjoying France.

Only a few more weeks before we repatriate to Canada. That being said, we would love to see you all again and catch up on missed days. Mike and I have been invited to speak about our experience in Kenya at a fund-raising event to help raise money for the project area in which we volunteered. It is a High Tea and Silent Auction to be held on July 15th from 3-6pm at Trinity Streetsville Anglican Church in Mississauga. It is a wonderful opportunity to further assist the community that we have grown to love in Kenya and to share with the community we love at home. I invite you all to come and drink tea, eat scones and tiny sandwiches with the crusts cut off, laugh at our photos and give to a wonderful cause. Tickets are $15 and we are limited to 80 people so please let me know if you are coming so I can reserve your seats in advance.

I hope and trust that all is well with you. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

God Bless,

Julie and Mike
