 ICDR Needs *YOU*

* *

* *

ICDR has some exciting events planned for the Fall and Winter. We need some
help and hope that leading/participating in one of the following events will
appeal to you. All 3 of the following are sponsored by ICDR and ICDR staff
and volunteers will be available to help. The following positions are for
volunteers:

*Fall 2009*:* “Family Gathering”*

ICDR is planning to have a “family” event. We want to spend approximately
one half day having all of our working group members and others closely
affiliated with ICDR get together for some common learning and to exchange
ideas and network. We anticipate that this event will take place on a
Saturday in October or November. It will likely be held at 500 University.
Leadership for this would best be from someone quite familiar with ICDR and
its working groups. We are also looking for 2 -3 people to assist in
developing and implementing this special day.

*January 28, 2010. ICDR Gala*

           ICDR has been fortunate to be selected by the Shamba Foundation
to hold a Shamba night for the purpose of fundraising and fun. We anticipate
a evening of fun, refreshments, some fundraising activities (e.g. a silent
auction) and an inspirational address. We require a chair or co-chairs for
this event and a small working committee. Information about the Shamba
foundation can be found at: http://www.shamba.ca/

*January 29, 2010 – Symposium *

           ICDR is planning to have a one day symposium. This is an event
that we have held annually since our inception. Our topic for the day will
be “International Perspectives on Disability and Sexuality”. We have many
capable people who have worked on previous symposia and we anticipate that
some of them will be willing to once again roll up their sleeves and help.
We require a chair or co-chairs to coordinate this event and a small
working committee.

If any of these opportunities appeal to you, please contact Penny Parnes,
Executive Director of ICDR at penny.parnes at utoronto.ca by July 30, 2009.
